And noon has languorously swished by
and protocols (?) have been broken.
But my promise remains true, to me,
though it remains, to you, unspoken.

So, take your time, go round and round,
wear out your penchant for complication
as I prepare a progress report
and keep things open to interpretation.

But come to me, at evening.
We will sit, laugh at our fading vanity
and help each other
unlearn this shared proclivity,

for love unclaimed, unrequited*
and relinquish the unexpected joy
only love so convenient,
so conveniently masochistic can provide.
